Although my stay was short-lived, this was one of the exciting roles I held since BotswanaPost was going through a transformation where they identified procurement as one of the leading drivers for cost restructuring. This role would provide an effective central procurement function, ensuring that BotswanaPost’s control framework and strategy is developed and maintained sufficiently to support their annual expenditure programme. Specific responsibilities included: • Reviewing and implementing the procurement strategy • Day to day management of the procurement team • Developing systems of control, policies and procedures relating to procurement and cost restructuring • Liaising with relevant staff to ensure policies and procedures are followed • Reviewing existing contracts and identifying opportunities for improved value for money • Reviewing service areas and potential supplier rationalization • Providing guidance to relevant staff in all procurement matters • Ensuring that legislative requirements are understood and incorporated in the Post’s procurement policies and regulations, giving particular recognition to Botswana’s citizen economic empowerment drive.I handle and advice on all matters relating to the procurement of the Bank's assets and contracts.
